The Art Gallery will be holding an oil pastel painting workshop on Saturday, June 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Gallery located at 109 Fall Street in downtown Seneca Falls.

Workshop instructor Roberta Nelson says, “Oil pastels are soft oil-based sticks that can be easily mixed with swabs, twists, fingers and baby oil. to create realistic works resembling oil paintings. They can be worked from light to dark or from dark to light. The course will focus on using various drawing and blending techniques to create three-dimensional textures and shapes. Any subject can be used.

Participants should bring a set of oil pastels, a regular pencil and an eraser. If you wish, bring photos of the chosen subject. Various papers, swabs and baby oil will be provided.

The cost of each workshop is $40. Registration required before June 1st by contacting the instructor at [email protected] or call 315-549-8323.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday at 11 a.m. at 4 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. at 1:30 p.m. The gallery is run by volunteers. If you are making a special trip to visit us, you can call 315-257-0201 to make sure we have staff. For more information, visit our website.
