Environmental Protection Engineering (EPE), a leading provider of environmental protection services and products, has launched HAZDASH – an intelligent, cloud-based platform for maintaining hazardous materials inventory (HMI) on board a ship.
Managed by highly trained and experienced hazardous materials experts, the new cost-effective platform ensures regulatory compliance by streamlining the HMI maintenance process for shipowners and suppliers.
With information available in real time, owners and vessels can ensure that a fleet’s HMI stays up to date and can easily access and download required documentation at any time. HAZDASH can be connected to a ship’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to instantly notify users of new orders and once an order has been placed the system automatically contacts suppliers to request HMI documents required. HAZDASH also creates an online library of all incoming Material Declarations (MD) and Suppliers Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) with relevant purchase order information which ship owners and vessels can access.
For suppliers, HAZDASH removes the burden of uploading documentation for each individual order and prevents unnecessary requests from being issued due to relevance checks performed by the system’s smart filter feature. Suppliers can easily browse HMI document requests and generate, upload and submit documents through the platform, and create a product catalog to ensure all HMI documents are easily accessible to all stakeholders.
Additionally, suppliers can generate all documentation for a vessel order with one click using the HAZDASH Agent, a smart feature that automatically generates and gathers the required HMI documentation from the supplier’s HAZDASH catalog.
Dionysios Konidaris, Head of HMI Department at EPE, said, “We are very excited to launch HAZDASH and offer our customers a smart, intuitive and efficient HMI maintenance solution that supports robust HMI management.
“To ensure regulatory compliance and that all hazardous materials on board are properly documented, it is essential that a vessel’s HMI is properly maintained. In the past there were problems obtaining HMI documentation, so EPE designed HAZDASH to offer shipowners and suppliers a platform that allows both parties to securely exchange information and ensure that orders and HMI-related documents can be viewed and submitted easily.
Eleni Polychronopoulou, Executive Vice President of EPE, said, “EPE prides itself on providing its customers with solutions that not only support regulatory compliance and efficient vessel operations, but protect the environment and ensure safety. of the crew. Accurate identification, management and recording of hazardous materials on board are essential to ensure the health and safety of the crew and the protection of the environment throughout the operational life of a ship and at the time of its recycling.
