Outdoor Oil Painting with Christine Lafuente
Experience the magic of Mount Desert Island by painting En Plein Air with renowned artist Christine Lafuente. A basic review of exterior layout, paint application, composition and atmospheric color theory will be covered; however, most of the time spent together will be “hands-on” in the field with one-on-one instruction at four selected locations on the island’s beautiful coves and shores.

$600 for a 4-day workshop ($590 for members) plus independent painting time on campus in the afternoon.
Artists of all levels and styles are welcome, experience working with oil is recommended.
Half-day sessions give you the opportunity to work in the morning with the instructor, leaving the afternoon to continue working independently, while developing your own style. Pack a lunch and paint all day!

About the Instructor: Originally from Poughkeepsie NY, Christine Lafuente earned an AB in English from Bryn Mawr College in 1991. She then moved to downtown Philadelphia to earn a certificate in painting and printmaking from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. There she received a Louis S. Ware Memorial Fellowship for travel to Europe. While artist-in-residence at the Fleisher Art Memorial from 1997 to 2002, she began teaching and studied at the Barnes Foundation. In 2003, she moved to Brooklyn NY, where she completed an MFA at Brooklyn College. Christine currently lives and works in Brooklyn year round and spends her summers painting in Maine.
