Pastel tip nails are the summer nail trend we’re currently head over heels for – here’s how you can get the look at home
Another day, another nail trend – only this one doesn’t even require a trip to the salon. It’s true, pastel tipped nails can be done at home, and that’s great news for the less dextrous among us, because they’re not that hard to pull off.

The trend for muted colored tips has been making the rounds on Instagram this summer – a playful twist on the classic French manicure. Instead of crisp white tips, we favor sage, lilac and peach alongside soft pinks and baby blues.
Good morning! Fashion has asked leading East London nail studio Shoreditch Nails for their top tips for nailing the pastel tip trend, all from the comfort of your own home.
“To begin, prep your nails by filing and buffing into your desired shape. Check that they are all the same shape and length. Wash your hands and dry them before the next step.
“Apply a base coat – we love The top + the base by Shoreditch Nails, its fortifying formula protects your nails from yellowing and promotes nail growth. Once dry, apply one or two coats of the angel for a beautiful translucent and iridescent pink.

“Select your pastel colors and place a small amount on a nail art palette. Alternatively, you can use a small amount of aluminum foil for this.
“For the perfect pastel manicure, the shades we love are: London fields, Islington, The Dalston, The Regent Canal and Bethnal Green.
“Use a liner brush – we love Glossify‘s Liner Brush – paint a thin layer along the tip of your nail. Start at one corner and paint towards the center, then repeat from the opposite corner so the lines meet in the middle – and you can also try this in one stroke of paint. Use acetone to clean any paint left on the skin. Allow the polish to dry and apply another coat using the same technique if desired.
“Once the varnish is dry, apply a coat of The top + the base to help achieve that mega glow.
“To get it over with nail oil to nourish and also prolong your manicure. Apply daily to promote healthy, natural looking nails.
