With the opening of Phase I in Delaware, the Rehoboth Art League will be offering Plein Air Oil Painting: Color and Composition with Jacalyn Beam from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesdays and Wednesdays, June 2 and 3, on its outdoor campus. . “En plein air” is a French expression meaning “in the open air” and refers to the act of painting outdoors with the artist’s subject in full view. Outdoor artists capture the spirit and essence of a landscape or subject by incorporating natural elements of light, color and movement into their works. Since the class will be held outdoors and the class size will be kept under 10, social distancing will be easily accomplished. All other CDC guidelines will also be strictly observed, especially the wearing of face masks at all times.

In this course for intermediate and advanced painters, participants will discuss and practice seeing shapes and colors in the landscape. Particular attention will be paid to the what and why of the topic and how to move responses to the canvas. Color temperature will be discussed and explored as a way to support artistic goals. Need supplies? No problem; Jerry’s Art Supply will have everything you need on site! Buy direct from Jerry’s or bring your own supplies.
