Without mentioning any particular shoe brand, I think it’s safe to say that we’re all familiar with a certain sandal. *hint hint* with a contoured cork footbed. In all honesty, I never knew about the trend until recently when I spotted a similar style for under $20 at Walmart. Enter, the Time and Tru Platform Double Buckle Footbed Sandals ($17), with almost exclusively five-star reviews. Curious to see if I’d be in, I thought, “what the hell”, and added the beige colorblock design to my virtual cart. My honest thoughts, ahead.
What I like about these sandals
I’m surprised how much I love these casual sandals. When I added them to my cart, part of me wondered if their overwhelmingly positive ratings were too good to be true, but – spoiler alert – they’re not. I put them on just minutes after they arrived on my doorstep and continued to wear them all day while working from home to fully enjoy the experience. I was amazed at how quickly the memory foam insole adjusted to the shape of my foot, so when I slipped it on and back it was perfectly molded to my foot and so, Great comfortable.
What occasion are these sandals suitable for?
These comfortable sandals are the definition of versatility. I can see myself putting them on to walk my dog as often as I will wearing them on a day on the town with friends with denim shorts and a cropped t-shirt.
What to note about these sandals
Before adding this set to your cart, there are a few important factors to note. First: Reviewers are right that these sandals run a bit large. Depending on the brand, I’m usually a size 9.5 or 10, but heeded buyers’ recommendations and ordered a size 9 – they fit perfectly.
Another thing that may or may not be a deciding factor for you is that they are heavy, which is why a small percentage of buyers decided to return them. It didn’t bother me as I still think they’re super comfortable, but I understand why that might be a deal breaker.
And finally, the color of these sandals is different from the picture. On the site, the sandal is a mix of light brown, cream and dark brown, but in reality the dark brown is olive green.
Would I recommend these sandals?
Yes! Assuming you’ve noted that they’re big, heavy, and not exactly the color they’re looking for online, they’re definitely a great dupe for the more expensive versions. I can’t give them high stars because obviously they aren’t perfect, but I know I’m about to wear them a few times this summer – so four stars.
